This wooden low-energy house with a dominant mass of the top floor is located in the Klanovice village just off bustling Prague. The bulk of the top floor overlaps and eclipses much subtler dimensions of the ground floor and casts a natural shadow over the balcony and terrace. The ground floor opens to the south-west withlarge windows and French doors that span the maximum possible part of the face of the building. Contrary to that, the north-east section – adjacent to the fence and the neighbour’s estate – provides required privacy. The key part of the interior is an exposed gallery above the dining “room”. It lets the space of the downstairs penetrate the top floor and thus forms a clean airy hall.

The facade of the house wants to correspond with a large number of functionalist villas scattered around Klanovice. The upper part is covered in white plastering to visually enhance the magnitude of it. The rest of the building is wrapped in a wooden shell which balances the monumentality of the white colour, interacts with the wooden terraces and anchors the entire house to the ground.
