Apart from Antonio Gaudí, who would have turned 161 today, both Robert Venturi and Pritzer Prize Winner Alvaro Siza also share a birthday today.
Portuguese architect Siza, who in fact decided to study architecture after an inspiring trip to Barcelona (where Gaudí’s influence left its mark – on both the city and the young architect), won the Pritzker in 1992. He turns 80 today.
Venturi, an American architect highly influential in Postmodern architecture and a defender of “complexity and contradiction” turns 88.
