Project: Design Hotel Miura
Architect: LABOR13
Program: Hotel
Location: Czech Republic
Design Hotel Miura, that recently opened at the north-western part of the Czech Republic, gratifies art lovers, design and architecture fans as well as golf enthusiasts. The hotel really is an exceptional piece. It is located just at the margin of two golf eighteens Celadná. A marvellous valley in the midst of picturesque Moravian mountains. Architecture of the entire building is rough as the surrounding mountains but at the same time cosy where it should be.
Predominantly, it is made of concrete; on the outside, the concrete is combined with corroding corten sheet and violet glass. The case of the building is made of cembonite boards. Inside, concrete meets wood, stainless sheets and corian. The whole building is divided into 3 parts; one of these levitates freely above the terrain. Hotel rooms are situated in side wings and all are oriented southwards facing the golf course. Some rooms offer loggias and all rooms provide an unbelievable view of the surrounding mountains. Suites have, in addition, glassed walls with a view of the Lysá hora mountain and surroundings. The central part of the building hosts a reception-desk with a lobby bar and a summer terrace, a night bar and a restaurant with a beautiful terrace permitting to watch what is going on at the golf course.
The hotel provides 2 conference rooms and, above all – MIURA SPA. The hotel unites an exceptional combination of sports, luxury and art. World-famous names, such as British sculptor Tony Cragg or controversial Damien Hirst, together with classic figures such as Henry Moor or Andy Warhol, are the greatest magnets of an art collection situated inside the hotel. Other exceptional art pieces are situated outside the hotel: sculptures “Cuboids” by Czech sculptor David ?erný: Sculptures are sitting at a water pool near the hotel, other are leaning on the building or looking down the moulding.
The concept of HOTEL MIURA was designed by young Prague architectonic studio LABOR13, led by Albert Pražák, Martin Vomastek and Jiií Bardodej. Graphic elements were designed by studio SIDE2. The project also involved other prominent figures of the design world, such as Vladimír Ambroz, Lucie Koldová and Jerry Koza, or companies Artemide, Bang&Olufsen, Moroso, B&B, Alias, KFF, Magis, Paola Lenti, Poliform and Vondom. Most interior facilities and corian were supplied by Czech company AMOSDESIGN. Some of hotel furnishings were designed exclusively for the hotel.
